Bio Sponge Iron brings together a multidisciplinary consortium of 7 partners from Italy, Spain, and Germany. The consortium spans the entire value chain, combining scientific excellence, industrial expertise, and advanced infrastructure to ensure the successful development, validation, and exploitation of the project’s results. With strong experience in EU-funded projects and the resources needed to achieve its goals, the consortium is well positioned to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions.
RINA-CSM has wide experience in pyrolysis process tailoring and biochar utilization for steelmaking purposes
POLIMI contributes extensive knowledge in ferrous metallurgy and engineering of reduction process focusing on sustainable reduction of primary ores
BSN is a German steel factory based on EAF production. BSE will provide rolling mill scale for sponge iron production. The sponge iron will be delivered to BSN to perform melting tests in real EAF.
CSIC is a leading research institution in the field of carbon characterization and to point relation between the carbon behaviour and its applications
AGRI, is a consolidated
engineering and construction company and it offers the infrastructure, market access, manpower, economic
knowledge, and logistics essential for the project success
MINAS DE ALQUIFE is a mining company located in Spain, and the largest open-pit iron ore mine in Europe. Here, a long-term pilot production of sponge iron using fines from mines operation will be performed.
Steel Mont supports the activities of communication, dissemination and business plan, due to the large knowledge of the European Steel market.
